(Royal Hashemite Court, Media & Communication Directorate - Amman) Jordan and Portugal on Sunday signed several agreements meant to cement bilateral ties, which were the focus of talks by His Majesty King Abdullah and visiting Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva.
 
In a joint communiqué, the two sides said they are keen to develop and reinforce economic, trade and investment relations and build strategic cooperative ties in line with the Euro-Med Partnership.
 

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - AMMAN) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah inaugurated the "Achieving e-Equality in the IT Sector" Program-- a UNIFEM/Cisco Systems, Inc. and Cisco Foundation initiative.
 
The program comes in line with national efforts to advance Information Technology (IT) in the Kingdom, and with initiatives spearheaded by Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania to provide Jordanians with opportunities to excel in the field of IT in order to play an active role in the country's progress.
 

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Honoring 2003 Nobel Peace Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah congratulated Ebadi describing her as “a powerful spokesperson for tolerance and compassion…[who] has inspired the world as a tireless champion of women, children and the vulnerable or weak, whenever their rights are in danger.”

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah commended the success of the cultural activities organized last year as part of Amman the Arab Cultural Capital for the year 2002.

In a meeting with members of the Higher National Committee of the Declaration of Amman the Arab Cultural Capital 2002, Queen Rania said the cultural activities organized throughout the past year represent a crucial step towards enhancing the role of culture at both local and regional levels.

(Jordan Times, Linda Hindi - Amman) International women leaders have met in the capital with Arab peers to join forces under their common goal of amplifying women’s voices in resolving global crises.

The Women Leaders Intercultural Forum (WLIF) launched the WLIF chapter in the Arab region yesterday through their partnership with Her Majesty Queen Rania, a co-host of the event.

(Jordan Times - Wadi Araba) Her Majesty Queen Rania visited two Wadi Araba villages where she checked on citizens’ conditions and projects implemented in the area with the support of the Jordan River Foundation (JRF).  
 
Considered one of the country’s poverty pockets, Wadi Araba has limited natural resources and economic opportunities.
 
The JRF offers technical services to the area through the Rural Community Cluster Development Programme.
 

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Amman)  the United Nations Foundation Board Members marked the first day of a three day visit to discover Jordan and explore opportunities in the Kingdom. Queen Rania, a UNF board member since 2006, joined the board for a dynamic and engaging conversation with 25 Jordanian Youth.
 
“The UN Foundation is excited to be in Jordan at the invitation of our Board Member, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, so we can learn more about this country and the UN's important role here,” said UNF founder Ted Turner.
 

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Amman) In a gesture that moved Jordan to tears, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah personally intervened to reunite a mother and her son wrenched apart for over 25 years. After hearing the story earlier this week, Queen Rania took it upon herself to secure a family reunion.
 

(Jordan Times - Amman) A total of 190 young people from Amman volunteered to take part in a project aimed at fostering youth participation in community work.
 
Entitled “For Empowered Generations”, the project, carried out with the support of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), seeks to develop youth potential and awareness, in addition to increasing their contributions to community service.
