(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Paris) Fifty-one women artists from 21 Islamic countries gathered in an exhibition held in Paris with a common vision of promoting cross-cultural dialogue and painting a clearer picture of Islam.

The exhibition entitled “Breaking the Barriers: Women Artists from the Islamic World” was inaugurated by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah who has been outspoken on the need for cross-cultural dialogue aimed at dispelling misconceptions about Islam and at a better understanding between different civilizations.

In a meeting with members of the Higher National Committee of the Declaration of Amman the Arab Cultural Capital 2002, Queen Rania said the cultural activities organized throughout the past year represent a crucial step towards enhancing the role of culture at both local and regional levels.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah participated in a fundraising event organized by the Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and the Arab Women's Association (AWA) in London, as part of her efforts in supporting the work of humanitarian organizations around the world.

The event, which is held every year, aims to raise funds to enable MAP and AWA to continue their humanitarian work, which is urgently needed for Palestinians in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

French Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Renaud Muselier expressed appreciation for Her Majesty Queen Rania’s endeavors in supporting causes of women and children and facilitating the work of NGOs working to ease the suffering of the Iraqi people.

Minister Muselier also congratulated Queen Rania “on her courage in adopting peace initiatives around the world.”

Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah launched a blood donation campaign to assist injured and wounded people in Iraq.

The King and Queen themselves donated blood in expression of their stand by Iraqi people and of the brotherly bonds linking the Jordanian and Iraqi peoples.
