Queen Rania Celebrates Mother's Day with Orphans, Volunteers, and Al Aman Fund Graduates

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) In celebration of Mothers’ Day Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited Dar Ri’ayat Al Yateem Orphanage in Bayader Wadi Seer in Amman.

Her Majesty celebrated the occasion with caregivers and orphans; commending the caregivers and mothers on the selfless role they play to help raise orphans across the kingdom.

Her Majesty first passed by a lecture conducted by Mr. Ahmad Ali; a university lecturer specialized in psychology at the Amman Private University. Mr. Ali was giving a lecture on parenting skills to approximately 30 caregivers from several orphanages.

Her Majesty joined around 80 orphans and 25 volunteers in activities organized for them on the occasion of Mother’s Day. The activities included face painting, balloon shaping and storytelling. A group of orphans presented Her Majesty with a handmade gift in gratitude for Her visit and the constant attention she gives to the cause of orphans in Jordan.

Her Majesty also attended a meeting -facilitated by Al Aman Fund Director, Ms. Maha Al Saqqa- with about 40 graduates from the Fund and their mothers from different care centers. The graduates shared with Her Majesty how Al Aman Fund changed the future of orphans and their families, by providing them with post orphanage care and education.

Her Majesty Queen Rania launched Al Aman Fund in 2003, and it was registered as a non-for-profit charitable organization in 2006. To date, more than one thousand orphans have benefited from the Fund’s services. More than 300 orphans have already graduated from several post graduate programs across the country, including University and vocational training programs. About 620 students are still receiving their education and will be graduating throughout the next few years.

The fund provides orphans, who lost one or both parents, with post orphanage services when they reach the legal age of 18 years old and leave their foster homes or orphans’ centers. These services include university tuitions and living expenses, which include rent, clothing, transportation and a monthly personal allowance for all beneficiaries.

The Fund also provides academic, social and psychological counseling services through lectures, workshops and one-on-one meetings with the orphans, as well as providing the orphans with career placement programs.
