Queen Rania Meets with Employees and Beneficiaries of Bilforon App
(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with a number of employees and women benefiting from Bilforon app on Sunday, to learn how the digital platform enables home cooks to promote and sell their meals online.
The startup’s Founder and CEO, Mohammad Batikhi, briefed Her Majesty on the app’s efforts to create work opportunities for home cooks, and the grocery delivery services it offered during the recent COVID-19 lockdown.
Within 72 hours of imposing the lockdown, Bilforon’s team transformed the platform into a grocery shopping and delivery application, hosting 30 supermarkets and stores.
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the startup conducted rigorous hygiene and food safety tests that potential beneficiaries had to pass before joining the platform. The company also offers beneficiaries training in hygiene and food safety, as well as a rating option for customers.
Founded in 2016, Bilforon aims to connect home cooks with customers across Jordan, including businesses that are looking for event caterers. In addition to linking customers with home cooks, Bilforon assists its beneficiaries, who are mostly women, with running their businesses from home by helping them meet and maintain quality assurance standards and customer service protocols.
