Thank you. It is a pleasure to join you all for this important meeting where expectations are high… and where the stakes have never… been… higher.

They’ve never been higher for the half of humanity surviving on $2 a day or less…or the 800 million people who live in slums.

For the 67 million children denied their right to an education…or the 770 million adults who cannot read or write.

In Interview with FIFA.com, Queen Rania Highlights Partnership Between Football and Positive Social Change

At the FIFA World Player Gala 2009 was an extraordinary personality and exceptional guest in the shape of Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. Thanks to her commitment to the 1GOAL -  Education for All initiative, which is an ambitious and important campaign that will change the lives of children living in poverty by helping to give them an education, Her Majesty was presented with the FIFA Presidential Award by the President of world football’s governing body, Joseph S. Blatter. FIFA.com caught up with Her Majesty at the Kongresshaus in Zurich.

WEF: Think Business Unusual

The great thinkers and tinkerers of global politics and business descended on Davos, Switzerland, for the 40th World Economic Forum last week. This year, in the snowy confines of this small Swiss village, the theme was: Rethink. Redesign. Rebuild. For me, the focus was: Education. Education. Education.

Each year, more is lost by a string of national economies from low quality education than the world lost from the financial crisis. Each year, the income lost by developing countries from not educating their girls is equal to the total aid they receive: about $100 billion.
