Queen Rania on GMA: “Jordan Is Very Committed to Fighting Honor Killings”

She is striking, she is eloquent, and she is the 33-year-old Queen of Jordan, a country which has been trying to bridge the divide between the Arab world and those of us in the West. And recently, her majesty made a trip to New York and had a chance to sit down and talk with us about some of the things she thinks are so important to get done.

With cameras and flashbulbs, the stunning and serious Queen Rania of Jordan opens an exhibit at New York’s Museum of Natural History.

Queen Rania Talks to Good Morning America about the Conflict in the Middle East

The prospect of war has put many US allies in a tricky position, Jordan, chief among them. During the last Gulf War, King Hussein didn't side with the United States. His son, King Abdullah, has made a different decision allowing thousands of US troops along the border. But it's a delicate situation, and the King isn't talking in public. Still, we convinced the Queen to sit down with us for a wide ranging interview.

One of the first reminders this is no ordinary queen, she drives herself around town.

Robin Roberts (RR): Now a visit from Queen Rania of Jordan. She’s one of the world’s most powerful women but she’s also a wife, a devoted mother of four, tireless advocate for education all around the world, and she is here this morning to engage in some peanut butter diplomacy by telling us about her new children’s book. It is wonderful. It is called The Sandwich Swap. And it’s wonderful Your Majesty to have you here back with us..
