Queen Rania Tours Society for Development and Rehabilitation of the Rural Women in Abu Alanda
Joined by the Society’s Board of Directors, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the Abu Alanda branch of the Society for Development and Rehabilitation of the Rural Woman. Her Majesty toured the Society’s facilities and met with its beneficiaries and members of its Board of Directors.
In a meeting that focused on the importance of developing the skill sets of rural women, Her Majesty stressed the importance of volunteer work in developing societies and the importance of cooperation between individual volunteers and civil society institutions. The Queen also talked about women’s role and participation in elevating the standards of living in their local communities, adding that the results of that role are directly reflected on their families and society as a whole.
Seeta Al Hnaity Al Hadeed, Founder and President of Society’s Board of Directors, briefed Her Majesty and the attendees on the different projects the society implements such as the preservation and development of the Jordanian heritage of folklore costumes and supporting students to pursue university education.
Other projects include the Productive Gardens and Water Harvesting in Deir Yousef, the Permanent Exhibition Project, the Productive Kitchen and National Vocational Training for Young Women.
Mrs. Al Hadeed also explained that the main goals of the society include rehabilitating rural women, developing their practical and technical skills and preserving Jordanian heritage.
The Queen also toured the embroidery and hand made products workshop, the library, computer lab, outdoor playground, hair beauty salon, skin care center, nursery classes and the indoor playroom for children.
The Society, which was established in 1990, has six different branches across the kingdom.
