Queen Rania Visits the Children’s Mobile Museum in Jerash

(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Jerash) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the Children’s Mobile Museum on Monday, which is currently stationed at the Al-Khansa’a Secondary School for Girls in Jerash.

The Queen toured the various interactive and educational stations and exhibits in the school’s multipurpose hall, which aim to encourage the development of children’s imagination and scientific skills.

Accompanied by the Head of the EU Delegation in Jordan H.E. Ambassador Andre Matteo Fontana, and the Director of the Children’s Museum Jordan Ms. Sawsan Dalaq, Queen Rania joined a number of female students who were enjoying the Mobile Museum’s interactive activities. She also received a briefing about its latest upgrades, including the newly-installed ‘Power Around Us’ station.

This latest installation was developed with the support of the European Union in Jordan, and aims to educate children on the importance of renewable, alternative, and natural sources of energy.

The Mobile Museum features an inflatable 3D planetarium and several science stations showcasing unique physics, chemistry, and human anatomy exhibits that offer engaging experiences for students.

Her Majesty also dropped by a chemistry class and an English class for seventh grade female students, and met with the school’s teaching staff.  

The Mobile Museum was launched in 2012, with the aim of reaching the widest range of visitors across Jordan. It has been set up in the majority of Jordanian governorates, welcoming both school students and families free of charge, and providing unique and interactive educational experiences. To date, the Children’s Mobile Museum has welcomed nearly 173,000 visitors, including 40,000 last year 2015 alone. 

The Children’s Museum Jordan is an educational non-profit organization that was launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in 2007. The Museum offers children more than 150 indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits, as well as many educational and interactive spaces. In addition, the Museum offers year-round educational programs, celebrations, and shows. Since its opening, the Museum has welcomed approximately two million visitors.
