Good evening and thank you, Leen, for those lovely words.  You may know the saying, “If you educate a woman, you educate a family.”  Your example makes clear that if you educate a girl, you educate the future.  And whenever I meet young Jordanians like you, I  know our country’s future is bright indeed.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- New York) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah was presented the 2005 Sesame Workshop Award and the Academy of Achievement Golden Plate Award, this week, for her outstanding contributions to improving the livelihood of children and her humanitarian work, respectively.

The awards are a symbol of her commitment to the causes she supports.

We learned today that police have arrested a woman who was part of this plot. Were you surprised that a woman was prepared to be a suicide bomber?

(Jordan Times, Rana Husseini - Amman) Around one-third of Jordanians reported they were aware that incidents of violence occur in their own families, according to a local survey on domestic violence released on Tuesday.

Wives and mothers were the most vulnerable family members, according to the survey entitled, “Domestic Violence in Jordan, Knowledge, Attitudes and Status, 2005.”

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) In recognition of her work in promoting literacy, quality education and cross-cultural dialogue in the Kingdom and around the world, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, on Monday, was appointed as Honorary Hans Christian Andersen Ambassador to Jordan.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Dubai) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, on Sunday, called for a new perception of, and an action-driven approach to, youth as a fourth and leading sector in the Arab world, highlighting the urgency of reaching out to, unifying and empowering, them and, in that spirit, witnessed the signing of a partnership between the Young Arab Leaders and INJAZ program.

Her Majesty's comments came during a two-day working visit to Dubai, where she participated in the Annual Meeting of the Forum of Young Arab Leaders (YAL).
