Queen Rania accepts Swiss Red Cross Honorary Overseas Presidency
(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Geneva) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah accepted to be the Swiss Red Cross Honorary Overseas President, addressing an audience of 400 policy and decision makers at the Red Cross fundraiser in Geneva.
Attending on behalf of Her Majesty was Princess Magda Ra'ed, who heads the Al-Hussein Society for the Habilitation/Rehabilitation of the Physically Challenged (AHS).
Also present at the Gala fundraiser was HRH Prince Ra’ed Bin Zeid. In her televised message, Queen Rania stressed the importance of extending a helping hand to those in need and the great impact and deep effect it leaves on individuals saying “Together, we share the knowledge that just as human suffering knows no boundaries, so too does human kindness transcend all boarders.”
During the fundraiser, pledge cards were available and donations were given out directly to the Al-Hussein Society in Jordan.
AHS is an educational, vocational and therapeutic NGO dedicated to providing comprehensive habilitation/rehabilitation services to physically challenged individuals, with the emphasis on children, irrespective of their socio-economic status, ethnicity, religion and sex.
Since its founding in 1971, AHS has expanded its programs to become a major provider of comprehensive services to the physically challenged of Jordan through its in-house and outreach programs.
AHS hosts and networks with other societies in an effort to serve a maximum number of people with different challenges as effectively and efficiently as possible.
